Organization summary:

Qatar Charity is a Doha-Qatar based International Non-Governmental Organization. Since the inception of QC services in Pakistan early 1992, the organization reflect its greater scope of work to respond to extreme poverty and the Government’s priorities. QC through its field offices enabled itself to strategically address the developmental and humanitarian needs at the very local level. QC is undertaking programmes associated with the socio-economic development of the Country. The projects are categorized under six programme pillars: Youth Leadership & Social Protection, Education, Provision of WASH, Health (with a focus on MNCH), Economic Empowerment & Sustainable Livelihood (EESL) and Disaster Response & Preparedness (DRP), along with its Seasonal Programs like meat distribution, Ramadhan program etc. In Pakistan, Qatar Charity is having its country office in Islamabad and field offices in KPK, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, and AJK.

1.      Job Summary:

      With financial support from UNICEF, Qatar Charity is implementing a short nutrition focused flood emergency project in 04 districts of Punjab. This position will be based in Rajanpur where UNICEF funded emergency project is to be implemented initially for three (03) months.

The Social Organizer will be based in district of Punjab where donor funded Emergency Nutrition project shall be implemented. The position holder is required to be mobile as S/he would be required to frequently visit his/her assigned district within Punjab. This position reports to the Project Manager (based in Punjab).

S/he would be expected to provide support to a donor funded project in accordance with Qatar Charity (QC) guidelines. Following this, s/he is to abide by QC systems and procedures in social mobilization, monitoring and evaluation. This position is expected to assume overall responsibility of Nutrition and conduct social mobilization in the communities. The position is required to ensure that all the activities according to the desired project goal and objectives.

2.      Job Responsibilities:

As part of project’s social mobilization team under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the incumbent of the post will have the following responsibilities:

a.      Technical

·     Preparing weekly, monthly, and overall DIP under the direct supervision of Project Coordinator

·     Introduce Qatar Charity\'s program to the local communities and formation of local Committees.

·     Develop profile of the villages/area

·     Assist in developing a social mobilization strategy and spatial planning for donor funded project within his/her assigned district.

·     To begin with baseline survey of target communities and continue to monitor social change and new social information relevant to community empowerment.

·     Responsible for coordination with all stakeholders at the Union Council and village level

·     To identify stakeholders, potential leaders, influential, decision makers/opinion makers in the assigned working area.

·     To provide community leaders with management skills and knowledge (about CLTS and hygiene) in getting community members interested, organized and motivated.

·     To assess the needs and resources required for the sanitation and hygiene promotion in the target areas.

·     To motivate and encourage potential leaders to talk to their fellow community members about unity and self-reliance.

·     To conduct in Behaviour Change Communication Campaign (BCC Campaign) in light of PATS+ guidelines.

·     Maintaining good relations with communities, notables and local contact persons to involve them in project activities and seek their support wherever required

·     Undertake extensive field visits, and surveys in order to deliver the project.

·     Identify problems and proposes remedial action.

b.     Management

·     Identify, assess, select, develop and maintain referral system with local NGOs and other service providers

·     Training local activists in the basics of organizing communities and introducing a programme of savings, capital formation, and skill development.

c.      Compliance and feedback

·        Coordinate closely with the other stakeholders implementing projects in the targeted district for timely implementation of the donor funded project. Also, to mitigate any duplication or replication of efforts.

·        Providing data of the field to Monitoring & Evaluation Section on time

d.     Team Management and performance

·        Identify alternative courses of action and accelerate/improve programme delivery.

·        Record all field related project activities on prescribed formats.

e.      Reporting

·        Submit the weekly report to the supervisor

·        Prepare reports on the areas where QC work can be carried out using specific tools for gathering data, prepare the evaluation phases and implement the recommendations.

3.      Job Requirements:

a.      Education

University degree in any of the relevant field – Sociology, Anthropology, Business Administration, Rural Development, Development Studies/Management.

b.     Relevant experience

Minimum 3 years’ work experience of Nutrition projects, particularly in similar contexts of Punjab.

c.      Computer knowledge

MS Office

4.      Skills and Personality:

a.      Communication skills

Must have good communication and interpersonal skills

 

b.     Personality description

Extend particular respect to the culture and tradition.

Must be well groomed and having a pleasant personality.

 

c.      Technical skills

·        Particular preference will be given to have experience Nutrition projects.

·        Good understanding of hygiene promotion at the community, schools and health facilities levels within a targeted area.

5.      Preferences

Local and Good planning & prioritizing skills.
